MPHA members enjoy the following benefits:
MPHA advocates on issues of importance to you
MPHA adovcates for evidence-based public health policies at the local, state, and federal levels. Each week during the legislative session, MPHA members receive an update on State House activities, including which bills MPHA is tracking, how to submit testimony, and other important policy information. We host members-only issue briefings, and publish an end-of-session policy report. In the 130th legislature, we influenced more than 100 pieces of legislation. You can find the report here.

MPHA convenes 5 issue-based member sections, which are opportunities for members to become involved on working groups that are specific to a public health topic to engage in professional development and networking and assist MPHA with policy position development. MPHA offers the following public health sections available to members only:
- Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs (including opioids and marijuana)
- Obesity (including healthy eating, active living, and the built environment)
- Public Health Infrastructure (including funding, workforce development, and Health in All Policies)
- Health Equity (including social determinants of health and rural health)
- Climate Change
MPHA offers many networking opportunities where members can connect with other organizations and public health professionals in the state of Maine, a rewarding benefit on many levels. We hold regional meetings and online webinars as well as our annual fall conference. All are great places to share ideas, network and learn best practice information.
