New Coalition Calls for Testing in Maine’s Medical Cannabis Program to Protect Patients
Press Event Tuesday, March 4th
WHAT: A new coalition of health professionals and child health advocates, known as the Alliance for Responsible Cannabis in Maine, will host a press event next Tuesday alongside a bi-partisan group of lawmakers to call for testing in Maine’s medical cannabis program and more efforts to prevent youth cannabis use.
Unlike adult-use cannabis, medical cannabis, which can serve pediatric patients, is not required to be tested for potency or harmful contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals or mold. Out of dozens of states with medical cannabis programs, Maine is the only one that does not require testing.
WHO:
- Dr. Amy Mayhew, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
- Senator Marianne Moore (R-Washington)
- Rep. Anne Graham (D-North Yarmouth)
- Rep. Marc Malon (D-Biddeford)
WHEN: Tuesday, March 4th, 10:30am
WHERE: The Welcome Center, Maine State House
